Makers Hit the Turf
Postponed from 2024 due to a waterlogged course, it was touch and go again whether racing would go ahead.
“Fiver Friday” at Warwick races is a family event and produces a good race card with this year being no exception, offering an 8-race card and prize money of over £70,000 on offer with over 54 horses competing.
The event is for thorough bred horses and covers the National Hunt calendar with most races being run over the 3 miles 2-furlong track, including the Class 2 Budbrooke handicap chase race.
Staff from both Makers and Triflex a key supplier to the business enjoyed a day’s racing and a chance to “beat the bookies” on what was going to be a testing circuit. With full hospitality and a private box overlooking the course provided the perfect advantage point to follow the races and cheer on the winners.
“We are delighted that so many could attend given it is half term. Unfortunately, due to the weather the event was cancelled last year but this has given a chance for everyone to catch up early in the year”
Stuart Rooker; Finance Director, Makers
“We had a great time although not many winners which was similar to last year, but it provides a great opportunity to put faces to names and move both businesses forward”.
Tony Mills; Sales Director, Triflex
“I know nothing about horses, in fact I am highly allergic to them so I rely on staff to provide winning tips! I think if I end up even it’s been a result but it’s been great to catch up with people from last year and provide the facility for both companies to get together”.
Simon Lamb; Managing Director, Makers
Despite the very soft ground the racing was very close although many horses that were not in contention failed to complete the course. We would like to thank those attendees from Triflex who took time out to join us in what was a fun day.
Here’s to better tips for next year!
