Makers Bang on Course

Despite the foulest of weather, the strongest of winds and 15ft of swell, Makers Managing Director, Simon Lamb teamed up with 1991 Augusta Masters Winner Ian Woosnam to take part in the Speedy Services Pro AM held at Royal Porthcawl, Wales.

The event was part of the festivities to the 2013 Welsh Seniors Open, was attended by Senior tour pros, Speedy and their invited guests. 25 teams took part in a 4 ball better ball format with 2 scores counting from 4. The overall winning team scored 73 points, with the winning pro Angel Franco from Uruguay.

” we were delighted to support Speedy and their tournament, tough doesn’t describe it. I didn’t score for the first 6 holes, Mr Woosnam, ” Woosie” for the first 2 gives some indication how hard it was!! even Ian questioned the validity of playing as any form of golf was not possible, after hitting a 5 iron 120 yards into a 55mph headwind!!

a big thank you to Speedy the Senior Pros, Woosie for making such a special day and my

2 playing partners. I apologise for my feeble contribution which saw us score considerably less than 73, but i’m putting it down to injury, surgery and weight loss, plus the 6 pro V 1’s I lost on the first 6 holes!!”
