Makers Cycle to New Heights

Sika, one of Makers key supply chain partners organised their annual “Sika Ride”, having sponsored Makers in their charity event “C2C” recognised that there was a certain interest in cycling and wasted  no time in inviting Makers employees to join in.

The ride starting and finishing in Slaidburn, Lancashire covered around 53 miles for the non professionals and 106 for those who needed just a little more exercise.

The event was established to raise awareness for needy charities whilst bringing together Sika employees from all over Europe.

Simon Lamb, MD, Kevin Arnold and Philip Gill took part on behalf of Makers, Matt Hewetson was too busy competing in some “iron man challenge”

never again on a mountain bike, it’s a road bike for me, I think I will stick to the Red Runs at Cannock Chase, it was tough, but credit to all those who took part.”

Kevin Arnold – Makers

having just done the C2C I thought this would be a nice day out…how wrong was I.  The Ribble Valley has no valleys just hills…to be honest I could not wait to get off the bike!”

Simon Lamb – Managing Director

” after 5 minutes we were at the back of the Peloton, after 6 they had gone, after 4 1/2 hours we passed 6 people, and they were fixing bikes!!, a very tough ride.  Can I apologise to Simon and Kevin for falling asleep in the restaurant, I was shattered.”

Phil Gill – MD Ischebeck Titan

We understand that Sika are looking to the mountain of Northern Ireland for the 2014 extravaganza, Makers would love to take part but we have already entered a team at La Vuelta!

Many thanks to Cathie Clay for her organisation and the Sika shirts.
