Makers Reveals Merrions New Strength

TRANSMakers opened the doors to the Merrion Centre to some 50 invited guests from Engineering and Surveying practices from around the UK.

The Merrion Centre is currently Europe’s largest Carbon Fibre Strengthening project and has been the beneficiary of the revolutionary carbon fibre rope, anchor ‘C’ technology, designed by Curtins and supplied by Sika.tour.JPG Resize

Guests were treated to a ‘live installation’ demonstration and were able to witness each stage of the application.  Makers are currently in the middle of the refurbishment programme and were able to provide a guided tour of the project and its transformation.

The ‘Open Day’ event consisted of a CPD seminar by guest speakers from Sika, Curtins and hosted by Makers.  On completion of the tour a QA session was held followed by light refreshments.cpd

Guests were able to get up close and personal with the products being installed and obtain a flavour of “their” application into the structure and the technology behind the design.

“the tour brought it to life and all together, I have learnt such a lot and have been fascinated by the technology..”

Helen Green, Town Centre Securities.

“a fantastic experience, and a well constructed day, many thanks.”

Peter McCloskey, Vector

“you usually get samples and make a judgement from those, but seeing the scale, technique and logistics it has opened my mind..”

Andrew Bennet, Ramboll

” we don’t often get the chance to ask the workforce about the products, we were really impressed with the skillset, knowledge and enthusiasm for the project, congratulations..”

Nic Webb, Curtins

The Merrion Centre is receiving a £18,000,000 transformation to make it a premier shopping destination. The 950 space car park not only serves the shopping centre but is ideally placed for the music and exhibition venue First Direct Arena.

The Merrion Centre was the first multi storey car park constructed in Leeds and is undergoing a major transformation both internally and externally receiving the latest technology and application from Makers Construction Limited, 5 times winner of the BPA “Best Refurbishment Award”top deck

“These events take a lot of planning, co-ordination and co-operation from our Clients.  We would like to thank them for their assistance and all those people who took time out to visit us.
