Makers Record Making Visit to Edgbaston

IMG_6969_220 members of Makers Construction team and staff were treated to a record breaking display by England at Edgbaston.

The ODI against New Zealand saw England put into bat and reach a ODI record of 408 runs from their allotted 50 overs.IMG_6982

During the innings the English Batsman provided a dazzling batting display despite losing their opening batsman first ball for 0.  Centuries were recorded by Joe Root and Jos Butler and a credible 50 by Captain Eoin Morgan and 69 by Rashid who also took 4 New Zealand wickets.

Set a colossal total, New Zealand got off to a quick start, but then the required run rate took its toll and wickets quickly fell.IMG_6985

“New Zealand are a top side and you were never quite sure if we would get over the line.”

Joe Marler, Makers Construction Apprentice.

“It was great to see some play, Edgbaston has always managed to be rain affected but today the weather played its part it was glorious all day.

S Rooker, Makers FD.

Special thanks to Dan and Joe who kept the guys fed and watered throughout the day.

England ran out easy winners in the end bowling out New Zealand for 198 for 10, and puts them in a stronger position to play Australia during the Ashes Series.
