A Fond Farewell

IMG_9810On Tuesday the 1st of March, family, friends and colleagues said their fond farewells to Geoff Brown.

IMG_9806At a service held at Streetly Crematorium there was standing room only as people crammed into the chapel.

Collette, Geoff’s wife was overwhelmed by the number of people that had turned out for Geoff’s funeral service.  The service itself was carried out by Geoff’s 3 children, Jonathan, Victoria and Susan, who are an absolute credit to Geoff and Collette.

The opening address by Jonathan was light hearted and put the congregation at ease. During a truly emotional service all 3 children provided a further insight into the gentle giant we had come to respect and love.

The service finished with Jonathans wife singing unaccompanied in front of the congregation.

IMG_9807Makers employees came from near and far and even from our competitors who had worked alongside Geoff during his time at Makers.  Jim Maker, Founder of Makers was also in attendance to pay his respects alongside Gary McKenzie who employed Geoff when he first started working for Makers in London.

As is such with these occasions past legends are discussed, memories relayed and stories embellished but what remains true is that wherever we end up Makers men and ladies have a special bond.

“Geoff’s family were fantastic, Geoff would have been shocked at the turnout but secretly smiling.  It was an emotional service not a dry eye to be seen, if we can learn one thing from him, live life to the full”

Simon Lamb, MD

“It was wonderful to meet old faces, which made it easier on the day…we all loved Geoff, but hopefully we can catch up soon under different circumstances”

Niki Baker, Finance Manager
