East Midlands wins Sika LPL Ryder Cup

Hawkstone Golf ClubNesting in the Shropshire Countryside Hawkstone Golf club is renowned for its medieval castle ruins, its cliffs and world famous 18th Century Follies, providing a spectacular backdrop to the undulating parkland course set in an English Heritage Grade I landscape.

This par 72 course boasts a tricky test of golf over its 6500 yards and Sika LPL invited several of it’s roof applicators from both East and West Midlands to take part in the annual Hawkstone Golf ClubEast meets West Ryder Cup challenge under the captaincy of Ian Sumner, West Midlands and Phil Chell, East Midlands.

The course was in absolutely stunning condition and provided a great test of golf with all matches being played in a friendly spirit.

In a repeat of last year captain Phil Chell took the honors in a 6-2 victory leaving Ian Sumner to reconsider some of his player selections.Sika LPL Golf day

There were prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive. Shirts were presented by both captains to individual winners of each match.

“I was incredibly impressed with Hawkstone Park, it is an absolutely beautiful course in tip top condition, a delight to walk and even better to play.

Although the competition was strong as is always the case with contractors it was played in great spirit which complimented the whole evening.

Sika LPL Golf dayI would like to extend my thanks to all the LPL guys who attended throughout the day and to Phil the winning captain.

I would at this point like to announce that by some miracle I won the longest drive at some 342 yards long narrowly beating an old friend and ex assistant golf professional by a mere 40 yards, but rest easy Vic Pepperell there’s always next year”

Simon Lamb, MD

Makers would like to thank Sika LPL for their continued support and wish them all well for the rest of the year.Sika LPL Golf day
