Makers Attracts New Blood

Jack Rimmer - Apprentice - Makers Attracks New BloodMakers apprenticeship programme has been running for many years and whilst in the downturn many companies cut back in this area, Makers have continued to invest and search for that “new blood” that will continue to move the company forward and add to its success.

Makers scheme has been recognised by both the C.I.O.B and CITB for its quality of apprenticeship scheme. In the recent flood of apprenticeships hitting the industry; many only 2 years in duration, prospective apprentices are now being more cautious especially as they see this as a “gateway” to industry.

“We are seeing many students looking at alternative routes to that of full-time university education… many are put off by the increasing debt levels and the risk of no employment at the end of their degree, so choosing the right apprenticeship is paramount”.

Sean Allsop, HSQE

Makers are delighted to appoint Jack Rimmer to the company and will be joining as an apprentice estimator undertaking a challenging degree qualification on a day release basis and working closely with the estimating team.

“We are delighted that we can attract the type of candidate like Jack. Jack is unusual in that he has studied “Construction” at college and his “double distinction” stands him in good stead for his apprenticeship”

Simon Lamb, MD

Jack became interested in construction through working alongside his Grandad at his company in Wales, J. Ellis William & Sons. Jacks interest grew further seeking work experience in the holidays sampling design at BHB Architecture and general contracting at the Shaylor Group.

New Apprentice Jack Rimmer“Makers was recommended to me through a friend of my dad’s, he said his son was already working for them and that he had enjoyed and matured through their scheme. After my interview I was delighted when I was excepted”

Jack Rimmer, Apprentice Estimator

Jack joins the ever-growing group of young apprentices which is forming a strong nucleus within the company. He brings with him excellent credentials and we are sure his golf handicap of 4 will be useful at some point.

“We wish Jack every success, he is joining a dynamic part of the company and will make a great contribution in time and has settled in well”

John Walker, Compliance Manager
