LRWA shortlists Makers projects for Finals

Great start to the year with the nominations announced for the Liquid Roofing Waterproofing Association (LRWA) finals to be held at the famous Titanic Hotel in Liverpool Stanley Dock.

We are delighted to have been shortlisted in 2 categories, Liquid Roofing Project of the Year over 1000m2 for the project at Cheltenham Racecourse where Makers have been working on the main stand which is an overcoating project using Polyroof Protec System to over 2300m2. Works had to be phased amongst the meetings within the racing calendar.

We have also been successful in having two candidates considered for Liquid Waterproofing Project of the Year, the IKEA Car Park at Reading firstly using a specially designed system by Triflex. This 10,000m2 car park had been the recipient of a liquid system some 6 years earlier but systemic reactions between the chemistry in the system and products within the in-situ concrete screed necessitated in a fully replacement of the system and addressing issues within the parent substrate following intensive testing involving laboratories in Switzerland, Germany and the UK.

Our second candidate, has been the subject of an engineer’s report and life cycle maintenance having appeared also as a finalist in the British Parking Awards. The car park has undergone a complete refurbishment and the waterproofing was part of the engineering strategy to continuing to maintain the structure having received secondary column strengthening. The waterproofing areas exceeded 12,000m2 using Triflex Hybrid DeckDefence for the intermediate decks and DeckFloor for the external top decks.

“I take great pride in the fact that we are able to complete complex projects to a standard that is recognised by experts in our industry. We continue to strive for high standards and these awards reinforce that message and provide confidence to our clients”.
