Merry Christmas from Makers

Makers Christmas Bags 2023 depicting all 3 awards Makers have won in 2023For many the end of 2023 can’t come too soon, raging inflation, strikes, rising interest rates, market uncertainty and the wettest year on record have made this a very difficult time for many.

Recently we have seen the terrible situation in Gaza, in retaliation of the terror attack by Hamas on Israel and this current conflict has taken centre stage pushing the ongoing situation in Ukraine off the front pages, but as that conflict rumbles on it continues to affect many of us here in the UK.

Despite the initial optimism for the year its seems talking with many factions within the construction industry that we have all had to work exceptionally hard to standstill and after such impacts of Covid, inflation and conflict it is no wonder 2023 has seen more Construction companies enter administration since the pandemic, what many consider to be a very fragile recovery we are very grateful and massively thankful to our supply chain, key partners, Clients and Staff who continue to support and contribute to the endeavours of the business all through the year.

It hasn’t been all doom and gloom in fact Makers managed to scoop 3 awards this year the first coming in March from the LRWA for Special Project of the Year for Ikea Reading, which was a complete surprise we had convinced ourselves that others had won. We were even more delighted when we picked up “Best Refurbishment” from the BPA, British Parking Association for The Podium in Bath a really complex and integrated project in an UNESCO world heritage site and in November were in shock considering the competition and sheer scale of the contractors at the BCIA Building Construction Innovation Awards where our project at Omni Edinburgh we were awarded winners of the Environmental and Sustainability Award beating some household names like Skanska, Vinci, Balfour Beattie and even the Government of Honk Kong Engineering Department!

So, looking back, although not the best of years our Christmas bags reflect the positive note of achievement displaying all 3 Awards won in 2023!

We are acutely aware of the contribution by so many people and the support we receive from our Clients, Customers throughout the year, so if you are connected to any of these winning projects or receive one of our Christmas bags from a member of our staff it’s to say thank you! without your continued support and belief in us it would be even harder.

On behalf of Makers Construction, we wish you and your families a Safe and Happy Christmas, and at this special time offer up our prayers to those suffering and affected by conflict and hope for speedy resolutions. We look forward to doing it all again in 2024 and you never know England might, might just sneak the Euros!

Merry Christmas

Simon Lamb, Managing Director
