Dementia is a disease of the brain that not only affects the sufferer but also the carers who live with them.  Difficulty with thinking, memory loss and language issues are some of the conditions of dementia which are all at the heart of communication and is a frustrating condition as the physical presence is there but the mental capacity reduced.

IMG_0174Dementia can take many forms and many levels with over 225,000 people developing dementia every year.  Throughout September the Alzheimers Society will be holding 21 flagships walks across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These walks known as ‘Memory Walks’ have been created as a day to celebrate love ones who suffer from dementia.  The walks are designed to allow all ages and members of the family to participate and enjoy the day as well as raising awareness and funds.

Makers would like to congratulate Darren, Paul and his fellow cyclists and wish Alan and Anne all the very best in dealing with this condition.

If you would like to know more about dementia or able to offer help, assistance or funds please call the National Helpline – 0300 2221122
