Prize Giving at Hampden Gurney School

Following their visit to The Watergardens the children of Hampton Gurney School from both Reception and Nursery classes entered into a colouring competition to highlight what they enjoyed the most about their visit on the day.

Simon Lamb, Managing Director returned to the school to present prizes to those school children who in the opinion of their teachers had achieved the most with their picture and the story behind it.

The winners were invited up in front of their classmates to explain what was in the picture and what they enjoyed the most.  2 boys and 2 girls were chosen from each class and presented with reading books from the author of The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson and Hugless Douglas, David Melling both children’s favourites.

As well as the reading books each winner received a full colouring pencil kit and Makers own ‘Life Care’ satchels to put their prizes into.

All the children who attended also received a Makers Construction pencil case complete with colouring pencils, ruler, pen and rubber to ensure they continue with their artistic tendencies.

“It is always difficult to pick winners from such a selection of pictures and the stories behind them have been fantastic and epitomises what a great time they had out at The Watergardens.  I was really impressed with their enthusiasm and knowledge especially about “Buddy” the Harris Hawk who was at the top of their list and obviously showed by the number of pictures of him.”

“It’s been a real honour to join the children at Hampton Gurney School and the children from Nursery and Reception were an absolute delight, so much so that they invited both Willy and me to have school dinners with them.  Ironically fish, chips and beans………and it was lovely….”

Makers Construction would like to thank the staff, teachers, parents and especially the children of Hampton Gurney School who made everyone from Makers very welcome.

All the children were absolute stars and winners to us and we have put all of their pictures in two galleries to allow the children to look at all the picture stories and hopefully print off the ones they like.

Once again on behalf of Makers, well done Hampden Gurney School, a fantastic effort!
